The residents of Cobham turned out in full force to see the Cobham Christmas Lights turned on by the former Radio 1 DJ Ed 'Stewpot' Stewart on Fri 25th Novemeber 2011. Before the lights were switched on, Andy Collins (who plays Smee in Woking Theatre's pantomime, Peter Pan and is best known as the host of BBC 1's Garden SOS and ITV's Family Fortune) accompanied Father Christmas in the 'Parade of Light'.
The Procession began (after a short delay due to power problems) from St Andrew's School and made its way down Freelands Road, Anyards Road, the High Street and Church Street to St Andrews Church. This years parade was bigger than ever. Children and parents had made lots of lanterns which were carried during the parade while being accompanied by local bands and other local organisations. Although it was cold, it was dry and this encouraged many more people to attend and spend time Christmas shopping in the local shops which had opened late.
