We are very pleased to be able to announce a new initiative that a group of Cobham business people and residents are now involved with.

As you may be aware, Cobham has been without a State secondary school for over 20 years. This has led to difficulty in getting local children into a school of choice and increased uncertainty as to where children would be educated at secondary level.

The social consequence of this has seen families having to move home in pursuit of secondary education, with community fragmentation as local children are educated separately from each other.

The Free School initiative allows for communities to bid direct to central government for fund to support the creation of schools where an education need can be demonstrated that is also supported by a reasoned and reasonable ‘educational vision’.
